" Iyengar Yoga, a form of Hatha Yoga , focuses on the structural alignment of the physical body through the development of asanas (postures). Through the practice of a system of asanas, it aims to unite the body, mind and spirit for health and well being. Iyengar Yoga is considered a powerful tool to relieve the stresses of modern-day life which in turn can help promote total physical and spiritual well being." - Wikipedia - Iyengar Yoga

YOGA FACT:

Hatha Yoga Pradipika

Chapter 3 Verses 33- 42

"The asanas taught by Siva are 84 in number. Of these I will describe four of the most important ones. They are siddhasana, padmasana, simhasana, and bhadrasana. Of these, siddhasana is the best and most comfortable posture.

Some call this siddhasana; others say it is vajrasana, or muk-tasana, or guptasana.

The siddhas say: Just as among the yamas the most important is to do no harm to anyone, and that among the niyamas moderation, so is siddhasana the chief of all asanas.

There is no asana like siddhasana, no kumbhaka like kevala, no mudra like khecari, and no laya equals nada [anahat nada].

Of the 84 asanas one should always practice siddhasana [above all], it purifies the 72,000 nadis."
